‘Too cute for words!’ Adorable moment young royal fan confuses Prince William for ‘the government’ – and the royal’s reaction is hilarious
This is the adorable moment a young royal fan didn’t recognise Prince William and confused him for ‘the government’.
After King Charles’ coronation on 6 May, the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 41, took part in a walkabout in Windsor the following day.
As he made his way through the crowds of royal fans, the father-of-three was introduced to a young boy who was buzzing with excitement to meet the future King.
A viral TikTok video, which was filmed by the youngster’s grandmother, shows the boy asking the royal: ‘How long until we are going to be able to see Prince William?’
Taking it in his stride, Prince William decided to tease the little boy and winked at his parents to get them to go along with the joke.

Pretending to look around in confusion, William said: ‘We don’t know where he is! Have you seen him yet?’
In response, the little boy then shakes his head and says ‘no’.
Continuing with the joke, William said: ‘Where do you think he is? Do you think he went that way?’
The royal teased: ‘He might come along in a minute, we’ll see if he’s there.’
The Prince of Wales then asked the boy what he thought his name was.
Unaware that the royal he so desperately wanted to meet was standing in front of him, the youngster replied: ‘Erm… the government?’
Unable to contain his laughter, William said: ‘No I’m not the government. I look like the government, do I?’
Looking down at his navy suit, he added: ‘They dress like this a lot.’

The Prince William video has amassed over 6,900 ‘likes’ since it was shared on the Royal Watcher TikTok
After this, the royal came clean and told the boy: ‘My name is William too.’
It then took the youngster a few seconds for the news to sink in. He then replied: ‘You’re Prince William!?’
The heartwarming clip ends with the royal shaking the little boy’s hand before he turned around and said: ‘It’s Prince William, mummy!’
The video has amassed over 6,900 ‘likes’ since it was shared on the Royal Watcher TikTok account earlier this month.
One fan replied: ‘Too cute for words. Both are adorable… lovely!’
Another added: ‘I love that he winked at the mum to keep it going. So cute.’
‘Best future King ever,’ a third gushed.
Meanwhile, a fourth said: ‘Like his mother… a complete natural with children.’
Later on in the walkabout, one little girl was so overwhelmed at meeting Kate, that she was comforted with a royal hug in front of cheering onlookers.
The duo’s 40-minute walkabout in the Windsor’s famous Long Walk saw them sip cocktails and they were shown a special coronation ale dedicated to the King.
The unannounced appearance came as Buckingham Palace said the King and Queen were ‘deeply touched’ by the nation’s celebration of their coronation.
