‘Axeman’ is charged with trying to murder two men in their 40s at London hospital before ‘turning the weapon on himself’ during rampage: Suspect is set to appear in court

An ‘axeman’ who went on a rampage at a hospital in London before reportedly turning the weapon on himself,has been charged with trying to murder two men in their 40s.
Matteo Bottarelli, 43, is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court today charged with three counts of attempted murder and two counts of threatening violence with a bladed article in a public place.
Armed officers were called to Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal in north west London on Wednesday following reports that two people had been stabbed.
On arrival Metropolitan Police officers found two men, both believed to be in their 40s, with stab injuries. Cops believe they were attacked with a mattock.
The suspect allegedly tried to harm a third person who managed to escape unharmed.

Police located the suspect outside the hospital shortly after the attack. He was then arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder
Both men still remain in hospital two days later, with one of the victim’s injuries being potentially life-changing.
Emergency services swarmed to the hospital around 1.15pm on Wednesday afternoon forcing terrified patients and staff to cower in ‘safe rooms’.
Police located the suspect outside the hospital shortly after the attack. He was then arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder.
The suspected axeman was then taken to hospital after he sustained ‘self-inflicted’ injuries. His condition was later deemed to be non-life threatening and was discharged from hospital to police custody.
Following further investigations, police further arrested him on suspicion of being found with an offensive weapon, affray and a third count of attempted murder.
His third attempted victim, however, did not sustain any injuries. The incident is not being treated as terror-related, Scotland Yard said.
