A shopper has slammed Primark for being ‘expensive’ after she spent nearly £20 on one t-shirt and a pack of socks.
Hope Lovina, 21, from London, was stunned and ‘choked’ when she was told at the till that her total was £19.50.
She started the video by saying: ‘Guys I was just in Primark because I needed to buy a shirt for work.
‘So it’s this shirt that I’m wearing now and when I originally looked at the price it said £8. Already I was choking, I was thinking £8, I thought this was Primark. What happened?’
Fellow shoppers agreed that prices appear to have risen, with one saying they now go to charity shops instead.
Hope Lovina, 21, from London, was stunned when she was told at the till that her total was £19.50
Hope explained: ‘I went to the till and I was prepared to spend the £8 on the shirt and I bought socks as well, and aren’t socks so adorable?
‘They’re like bare multicoloured and s***. Anyway I bought socks as well and the socks are £3.50.
‘So altogether in my head, I didn’t know the exact price it was going to be because I didn’t want to do the maths but I knew it was gonna be around 11, 12 pounds – like somewhere around there.
‘So I was like okay cool, let me go to the till. So I went to the till to f***ing buy what was meant to be an £8 shirt and £3.50 socks.
‘The woman started scanning the top and the socks, why did my eyes read £20 on the card machine?
‘Altogether the socks and the top were £20, I choked so hard.
‘I said what? Because I don’t want to look like a broke b****, I just took out my Apple Pay, I scanned it.
Hope realised in the video that the t-shirt she had picked up had a £16 tag on it and said: ‘Why did it lie to me on the thing?’
Cost of living: Hope said a ‘tear was formulating’ in her eye as she paid for the two items at the till
‘So I was getting my Apple Pay up, the cashier is right there, once the phone went to my face, so I can put my face ID on, a tear was formulating in my eye.
‘But I had to dry it away quickly when the phone went away from my face, I don’t want her to think I’m broke.’
Hope then looked at the tag she was holding in her hand and came to the realisation of why she was charged the amount she was.
She said: ‘No wonder. Guys this is the tag from the top, it wasn’t £8 it was £16.
‘Why did it lie to me on the thing? It was £16 guys. I spent £16 on not two, not three, not four but one singular shirt that’s not even ironed, that’s all creased up.
‘I might return this tomorrow, I might return this tomorrow and get a cheaper one.’

A third penned: ‘It probably had from £8 on the railing lol.’
A fourth commented: ‘Tell me this is a joke please. Hope why am I seeing £16 on the tag. I would have taken it back. Cost of living won’t kill me in this UK.’
A Primark spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘We work hard to offer the very best value on the high street, something we know is more important than ever right now to our customers.
‘The white shirt is a wardrobe staple and that’s why we offer a range of options to suit different occasions and budgets – from our classic white shirt which retails at £7, to our linen-mix white shirt which retails at £16.’
